Ellesmere Island

2019 -2014 (May-August): I studied tundra plants in the High Arctic at Alexandra Fiord on Ellesmere Island for 6 summers. Included: glacial foreland surveys, climate data monitoring, phenology data collection, setting up time lapse cameras, landscape and plot community composition, common garden measurements, seed germination studies, DNA sample collection, competition experiments, and aerial muskoxen surveys.
Glacial retreat and hydrology effects on plants at the Bridge Glacier
July 15-22, 2021. Bridge Glacier succession study. I studied the plant diversity patterns across the Bridge Glacial Foreland working with a hydrologist (Dan Moore), glaciologist (Ben Pelto) and soil scientist (Hannah Friesen).
Alpine plant responses to climate change and increasing recreational traffic in the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia
2022-23 - I co-led a project in Sphinx Bay and Sentinel Bay in Garibaldi Park to study the effects of warming on subalpine plants in a glacial foreland. We installed root cores, time lapse cameras, climate stations, a decomposition study and warming chambers. I also co-led a related project investigating the effects of trampling on subalpine plant communities.
Biodiversity on the Nicoya Peninsula

May-Aug 2013: I travelled to Costa Rica for three months to record the plant and animal diversity in a mangrove ecosystem for a Go Global Placement with ASVO, Costa Rica. I also actively participated in the sea turtle conservation project at the site.
